A WESTCLIFF man has been jailed after Met Police cracked down on dealers who flooded London’s West End with Class A drugs.

Caswell Shaw, 53, was locked up for five years and seven months after pleading guilty to three counts of supplying Class A drugs.

Shaw, of Carlton Avenue, was also handed a seven-year Asbo, banning him from going to Soho after he is released from jail.

A total of 32 defendants have been jailed to date aspart of the second stage of Scotland Yard’s Operation Rense, carried out by Westminster officers to tackle the supply of heroin and crack cocaine in and around Soho.

It followed Operation Jolt, which was carried out in May 2013 and resulted in the conviction of 30 drug dealers, jailed for a total of 100 years.

Alison Newcomb, the police commander at Westminster, said: “These latest sentences mark the culmination of several months of intensive targeting of Class A and B dealers in Soho and the West End, which in turn drives serious and violent crime in the area.

“Soho and the West End is a vibrant and exciting place and we are committed to ensuring it is safe for residents, businesses and visitors alike to enjoy. As the latest sentencing results demonstrate, our work continues to ensure these people are not replacedbyothers whocome into the area to sell drugs.”

Det Supt Kevin Southworth added: “Operation Rense is testament to our ongoing determination to wipe out drug supply and drug-related crime in Soho and the West End.

"This substantial intelligence-led operation should remind anyone thinking of coming to Soho with the intention of buying or selling drugs that we will arrest you, we will put you before a court and, as shown by the courts, you will face jail and be served with an Asbo wherever possible.”
