D Blues fan David Taylor was surprised for his 60th birthday, with a sweet version of his second home – Roots Hall.
The cake was an 18-inch square replica of Southend United’s stadium, complete with working floodlights, crowd noise, and lighting in the ground and offices.
Mr Taylor, of North Crescent, Southend, was treated to the cake for his football themed birthday party on Saturday.
It was made by his wife Carol’s son Wayne Smith’s partner Kostadin Nikolov, known as ‘Kosta’, who specialises in cake making.
He said: “He makes feature cakes and this was incredible.
“I’m a die hard Southend supporter.
I’ve been going since I was 14 and had a party with everyone wearing football shirts and we played five-a-side.
“The cake was a Bulgarian sponge and the detail was amazing.”
