A BIKER seriously hurt in a horror crash on Southend’s seafront has come out of his coma.
The upturn in Lee Bryant’s condition comes as eye witnesses to the smash, in Eastern Esplanade, suggest low sun may have been to blame.
Mr Bryant, 25, was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital following the accident, which happened just after 5pm on Sunday.
A black Toyota Yaris collided with Mr Bryant’s blue MBK bike, near the Ocean Beach restaurant.
Members of the public raced to the stricken biker’s aid and witnesses have now commented on the Echo’s website, www.echonews.co.uk SerenaG said: “I was one of the first on the scene and in my opinion, the car driver was probably blinded by the sun and didn't see Lee. I wish Lee a very speedy recovery.”
Ilsonbez said: “Get well soon Lee.Isaw you at the scene, so I know how bad this accident was.
Good luck Lee.”
Lee, who works as a crane operator at Shoebury-based Industrial Metal Services, is reportedly still in a critical condition in hospital, but is out of his coma.
Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash to call them immediately on 101.
