SHOCKED football fan Nick Tedder got a right result when a former England goalkeeper turned up at his house to give him a new car.

Dave Beasant visited Nick’s house in Langdon Hills to hand over the keys to a Vauxhall Adam.

Nick knew he had got through to the final of a competition to win the car, but thought he had lost out.

He lost a penalty shoot-out at Wembley against a Scotland fan during half-time in the recent friendly international between the two countries, so couldn’t believe his luck when the former Wimbledon, Chelsea and Nottingham Forest keeper turned up at his door.

Nick said: “After losing the half-time penalty shoot-out at Wembley, I was absolutely devastated and thought my chance to win the car had gone. I couldn’t even watch the second half of the match.

“A week later, I got a knock on my front door and there was Dave Beasant. I thought he might be giving me a ball or shirt, but then he handed me the keys to my brand new Vauxhall Adam. I’m completely shocked and overjoyed.

“For the previous seven days, I’d been replaying the penalty defeat over in my head, but I feel like a winner now. My wife and I are delighted.”

Nick got through to the final of the competition, organised by England sponsor Vauxhall, by sending in a photograph showing his support for the England team.

He sent in a photograph of himself with his baby son Freddie, who is now 14 months old. The photo showed a four day-old Freddie and his dad dressed in England clothing and was taken prior to England’s game against Italy last year.
