TWO cockle pickers were caught on the seafront.
A concerned member of the public spotted people on the shoreline near to the Kursaal in Southend with a torch and thought they were in trouble.
They contacted Thames Coastguard who sent a team to investigate.
A spokesman said: “They subsequently found two people collecting shellfish and advised them about the local bylaws.”
Police were made aware of the incident but had no further involvment.
