RESIDENTS across South Essex have reported seeing huge plumes of smoke in the skies from a massive blaze in Kent.
Beachgoers in Southend, residents in Canvey and even people living in Thurrock have reported spotting the thick black smoke.
The Essex fire service even posted a bulletin on its website to reassure people that the fire is in Kent and not in Thurrock, following several calls from concerned residents in the Essex town.
Around 70 firefighters are currently tackling the blaze at an industrial estate in Gravesend, Kent.
The fire, which also involves caravans, has caused the closure of several roads around the site due to poor visibility caused by the thick black smoke.
