A VOTE on plans to build 350 homes in Butts Lane, Stanford-le-Hope, has been put on hold for a month by Thurrock Council’s planning committee.
Members decided they wanted to make a full site visit before voting on the detailed plans.
Concerns have been raised over a lack of parking space within the proposed estate, the loss of existing residents’ views and landscaping, layout and access. Communities Secretary Eric Pickles gave outline planning permission for Barratt’s controversial plans for more than 100 acres of former St Clere’s golf course green belt land in March 2012, despite fierce opposition from residents.
The detailed application is for a mixture of two, three and four bedroom family houses.
Shane Hebb, award councillor for Stanford West, said the council needed to impose conditions on the way the builders operated, for the sake of existing residents.
He explained: “As things are, an easterly wind would blow dust from the site on to existing properties.”
