THERE’S no shortage of Queen tribute acts around, but fans of Magic – A Kind Of Queen will tell you when it comes to emulating one of the most famous and successful groups in musical history – they are the champions.
The band have been belting out the iconic group’s hits all over the globe for decades. Now they’re set to get Basildon rocking.
The group will be putting on a live performance at the Towngate Theatre on Saturday, September 21.
Magic – a Kind of Queen got together in 1974 when the real thing – Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor – were at the peak of their fame.
When Freddie died in 1991, Magic – a Kind of Queen became a fully-fledged tribute band, performing all the hits including Killer Queen, We Will Rock You, Somebody to Love and of course Bohemian Rhapsody at concerts in Gorky Park, Moscow, Hong Kong, America, the Middle East and Europe.
They have also performed twice at the London Palladium.
The 7.30pm performance at the Towngate will include all of Queen’s greatest hits being revived with the unique sound of guitars, bass, drums, piano and keyboard together with five vocals to back up the powerful and complex harmonies of the lead performer, Roger Brown.
Tickets are £17 and can be bought from the box office on 01268 465465.
