A MAN has appeared in court, charged with robbing a bank by telling a cashier he had a gun in his bag.
Gary Horn, 56, of Hainault Avenue, Westcliff, was freed on bail after yesterday’s hearing – but told he was not allowed to set foot inside any Lloyds TSB bank branches until his case has concluded.
Bespectacled Horn is charged with robbing Lloyds TSB’s bank branch in London Road, Westcliff, on August 18, getting away with £2,190.
Horn, who appeared dressed in a light blue, striped polo shirt, black jogging bottoms and trainers and carried a walking stick and plastic bag.
He entered no plea and spoke only to confirm his name during the brief hearing at Southend Magistrates’ Court.
He was freed on bail on condition he enters no Lloyds TSB branches and lives and sleeps at his home.
He is due to appear in Crown Court later this month, The court was told Horn, who has lived in Southend all his life, was not considered a flight risk. as he did not have a valid passport.
