A WOMAN was beaten unconscious by a gang of five men after she refused their sexual advances.

Tina Lawrence will now have to have her broken nose surgically reset and has been left too terrified to go out following the awful attack.

The 37-year-old mother-of-one from Wickford had been enjoying a night out at a friend’s house, also in Wickford, and had popped out to buy some cigarettes when her nightmare started.

As Tina approached the Beauchamps Drive area a gang of five men, who were on the street drinking together, began shouting lewd remarks and suggestive comments at her.

She told them to get lost and it was then they launched their attack.

One of the gang punched Tina in the face and, as she lay on the ground, she was then kicked to the head.

She was knocked unconscious and woke up bloody, bruised and battered.

Tina said: “I heard them shouting at me and I told them where to go.

“Before I knew it they had punched me in the face and then I was kicked in the face.

“I don’t remember anything that happened after that as I was knocked out.”

When Tina came round she managed to stumble back to her friend’s home and raise the alarm.

She was later taken to hospital where it was discovered that she had suffered concussion and a broken nose.

Tina said: “The pain is absolutely unbearable.

“I just can’t believe it happened. It has made me not want to go out on my own.”

Tina’s sister Joanna Lawrence, 38, added: “These people are just absolute scumbags.

“They could have killed my sister and they just left her lying there.”

The five men are all believed to be white and aged about 30.

Police are probing the attack, which happened at about 9.30pm on Wednesday, August 28.
