A BROTHER and sister from Westcliff are gearing up for a 62-mile walk in 24 hours.

Sam Grimwade, 29, and sister Hyla, 31, are walking the Thames Path Challenge from Saturday, September 14 to Sunday, September 15 in aid of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home The siblings, who both attended Thorpe Bay High School, now Futures College, will walk from Putney in South-West London to Henley, in Oxfordshire, and hope to raise more than £750 for the charity.

Sam, who works as a digital media officer at Buckinghamshire NewUniversity said: “We are very much looking forward to the challenge – although mostly finishing at the moment!

“Neither of us have done a charity event like this before and the sense of accomplishment at the end is going to be amazing.

“We are doing it to help ourselves get fit and also raise money for a great cause. We have done a 45km walk in training, which was very hard after 25km, so I can only imagine what the full distance is going to be like.

“Between us, myself and Hyla have done almost 200 hours of training covering around 750 miles so I hope we are ready to go!"
