A SCHOOL, which was unable to open at the start of the autumn term because of flood damage, has opened again.

Children are now back at Glebe Junior School, Rayleigh.

Headteacher Sam Warner, who has spearheaded a massive clean-up operation with her staff, said: “We have re-allocated space both for infants and juniors. We have restarted Year 1 and tomorrow Year 2 will start. The only class we haven’t been able restart are the preschool children.

“We have to dry out the classrooms because they’re damp in the floors and walls.

“We have a dehumidifier running because we can’t lay new flooring on the damp floor.”

Miss Warner thanked staff in both schools who have worked tirelessly since the flood to get the school ready.
