TWO sisters are fulfilling a teenage dream by taking over management of a Little Wakering pub.
Lisa Carafelli and Tanya Chapman took charge of the Castle Pub Inn, on Little Wakering Road, despite never having run a pub before.
Ex-travel agent, Lisa, said: “Running a pub has always been a dream of mine.I saw the pub had become available on the market and said to Tanya, ‘Shall we go for it?’ “Tanya has always worked in hospitality in bars and kitchens, but never in management, so it’s a complete leap for both of us.”
Lisa says she used to be a local at the pub when she first moved to Wakering 15 years ago, and stopped going after she moved to the opposite end of the village.
Now she lives above the pub with Tanya, and Lisa’s ten-year-old daughter, Annia.
She said: “We’re getting there – it’s been really hard work and quite a learning curve for us both along the way, and getting things to be how we want takes time.
“The response from the locals has been brilliant, they’ve all got behind us.”
