THE inquests into two men who died at the Brownstock music festival have been opened.

Jonathan Graham, 33, from Chelmsford, died after ingesting a substance, thought to be 5-EAPB at the festival in Lower Burnham Road, Stow Maries.

The initial results of a postmortem examination were inconclusive. Further toxicology tests have been requested and the results are due in late November.

The substance Mr Graham is thought to have consumed, also known as Benzo Fury, was banned by the Home Office in June for 12 months while experts assess whether it will be permanently controlled.

Mr Graham’s girlfriend is in a stable condition at Basildon Hospital after ingesting the same drug.

Paul Wickerson, 32, of Leatherhead, Surrey, died on Saturday after he was hit by at least four cars after leaving the site. He was found dead on the verge of Lower Burnham Road at 10.45pm. A post-mortem examination revealed he died of multiple injuries.

Essex coroner Caroline Beasley Murray requested a toxicology test and a report by the traffic investigation unit.

The inquests were opened yesterday and have been adjourned until October 7.
