WICKFORD’S revamped market will be officially re-launched at the end of the month.
Wickford residents Carol Bassett and Trevor Day were announced as the new market operators last month, having taken it over from a company called Hughmark Continental.
The duo had hoped to stage a high-profile re-launch of the ailing market early this month, but have only just been able to take over control of the town centre site this week. Instead, they say they hope to re-launch the market at the end of the month, once they have settled in and have their plans properly in place.
Mr Day is a market trader, and has already helped revive Rayleigh’s town centre market.
He said: “We only took over the market on the first of the month, so we need a bit of time to get in traders and build up publicity before a big relaunch.”
