ASDA workers are gearing up for a 5km challenge to raise thousands for charity.
The Tickled Pink 5k for 5k event will see shoppers and staff march 5km around Basildon Sporting Village in a bid to bring in £5,000 in sponsorship.
Supermarkets across the country will be hosting their own events in parks, sports centres and towns for Asda’s own charity Tickled Pink, which supports people with breast cancer.
Asda’s own community life champions from Basildon’s Eastgate and Pipps Hill sotres, as well as Tilbury, stepped onto the track in Basildon Sporting Village to launch the event, which takes place this Sunday.
Paula Howard, who is the community life champion at Eastgate Asda said: “It’s a fun day for a good cause. Asda wants to give back in the community. The whole day is about giving back.
“We will also collect money in the Eastgate Shopping Centre.”
The walk or run starts at 4pm and consists for 12 laps of the sporting village’s race track.
Tina Williams, the life champion for Pipps Hill, added: “We just want to make the dayasuccess and raise as much money as we can because it is such a major issue.
“Children can come along, there is no fee to join and no minimum needed to raise, but all sponsorship goes to Tickled Pink.”
Tickled Pink raises money for Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.
To join the event visit a local Asda to pick up a sponsor form.
