SOUTHEND’S history will be unveiled at special event at Southend Central Museum.
The museum is inviting people to an illustrated talk on Tuesday.
Local historian Bob Delgarno will show his captivating collection of slides illustrating the development of central Southend from the 18th century to the present day.
The talk will trace the growth of Southend High Street into a thriving shopping and leisure area, from Victoria Circus and the Talza Arcade right down to the Pier.
The event has been organised by the Southend Pier Museum Foundation Trust as part of its programme of members’ meetings.
Peggy Dowie, chair of the Trust, said: “We’re delighted Bob will be sharing his superb collection of slides with us. He has an unrivalled knowledge of the town’s history and is a really entertaining speaker. If you live in or around Southend, come and learn about your town’s fascinating history. Everyone's welcome.”
The talk starts at 7.30pm and will run until 9.30pm. Admission is free for members of Southend Pier Museum Foundation Trust and nonmembers are asked to contribute a £1 donation.
