GLORIOUS gardens have been awarded first prize in a national competition.
Striking plots in Leigh Hill, Leigh, scooped the accolade in Cultivation Street which aims to “bring streets of Britain back to life through people, plants and pride”.
Sara Williams, owner of Sara’s Tea Garden, in Old Leigh, joined with her neighbours to enter the contest.
The four gardens, each with their own style and personalities, give the row of historic homes a picturesque look.
She said: “I started at my business and I thoroughly enjoyed doing my front garden. I moved into my house last year and I just saw the potential.
“It is all containers, all pots, It is so much easier to do a container garden.
you can take them out and put new plants in and it is instant colour.”
