A MAN was threatened with a knife in his own home after burglars broke in.
Two masked men went into the house in Bull Lane, Rayleigh, and beat up the resident - a man in his twenties.
They hit him with an extendable baton and the pair were also armed with a knife.
The incident happened at 11.30pm on Friday, September 6 but officers investigating the aggravated burglary have only just released details to the media.
Dc Jon Holden of Southend CID said: "This was a very serious incident that has left a family shocked and frightened.
"I am appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area at the time and seen anything.”
The man with the baton was white, wore a black balaclava, dark blue hooded top and was about 5ft 10ins tall. The man with the knife was also white, was carrying a six-inch knife, and wore a pale blue bandana across his face and a dark hooded top.
Nothing was stolen and the man did not suffer serious injuries.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dc Jon Holden at Southend CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
