TV stars Claire Sweeney and John Thomson visited Southend’s Three Shells beach in the sun, between appearances in a play running at the Palace Theatre.
The actors, who are famous for roles in hit TV shows including Cold Feet and Brookside, play Yorkshire couple Jack and Liz in September in the Rain, which ends on Saturday.
The story follows the characters through their annual summer holiday jaunt across the Pennines to Blackpool, a ritual of theirs for more than 40 years.
The story dips in and out of time recalling their first holiday as newlyweds, to their last as pensioners.
They share memories filled with tears and disappointments, fish and chips and wet and windy promenades in September.
