THE mother found dead at her home in Wickford has been named as Tolu Kalejaiye.
It is believed her 21-year-old son has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Officers were called just after 10am on Thursday to a house in Wethersfield Way.
Officers rushed to the scene where they found the body of 44-year-old Tolu Kalejaiye.
The death is being treated as suspicious.
A cordon is in place around the property.
Fred Lyons, who owns F Lyons Family Butchers in nearby Southend Road and is parish councillor for Shotgate, said: “I know Wethersfield Way and this area is very quiet.
“A lot of new people have moved into the area this year because it is very sought after.
“This is very out of the ordinary. I have been here for 28 years and there has never been any bad news. We encourage community spirit and for people to look out for each other.
“As a parish councillor we are usually only moaning about youths gathering and petty things, nothing dramatic at all.”
A heavy police presence around the house this afternoon
