SOUTHEND baker Ruby Tandoh has won the accolade, “Star Baker”for a second time in the latest round of TV cookery show the Great British Bake Off.
The 21-year-old philosophy student chose a citrus tea loaf as her signature bake, and followed it with a twisted Swedish kanelbullar and saffron St Lucia buns.
Ruby won the Week 6 technical challenge, and was praised by one of the judges for her “excellent ripple” and the exposed filling in her apricot Couronne.
Next Tuesday’s show, at 8pm on BBC Two, will see the surviving contestants working with suet and pastry.
Ruby posted on the Twitter website after being criticised by a viewer as “useless” and said she used “white chocolate on everything”
and relied on her “puppy-dog eyes”.
Her response was to call her the critic “a bitter old witch”.
Both posts were later deleted.
