ROCK for the Homeless, a six-hour event promising an eclectic mix of first-class music, is taking place on Sunday.

The event, held at the Maritime Room, at the Cliffs Pavilion, is being held to raise money and awareness for World Homeless Day, via homeless charity Harp Southend.

Herbie Duo, Martin McNeill’s Bottleneck Blues, Wazzo, the Valerie Masters and Total 80s will all be performing at the Westcliff venue on Station Road, from 4pm until 10pm.

Organiser Stephen Colyer says: “We always need to raise funds, but at this time of year, with winter setting in, it’s even more essential.

“This is going to be a great event with a real mix of amazing bands. There will be something for everyone.”

The event is for those aged 18 and over. Call Harp on 01702 615000 for tickets, or drop by the charity’s office at 117 York Road, Southend. Tickets are £10.

PMT (Professional Music Technology) Southend is donating an acoustic guitar as the main prize in a raffle at the Rock for the Homeless gig to help raise further funds for Harp’s work with Southend’s homeless.
