Part of the reason youngsters have a lot of accidents is that they can drive around carrying passengers who distract them, they can drive more or less any car they can afford to insure, or drive on their parents' insurance.
Passing a driving test, does not make you a good driver, you are still learning a long time after the test.
Young people do not just want to drive cars for the fun of it, they need a car as much as anyone else does, due to the lack of public transport.
Instead of the Government ripping motorists off before they have a car, maybe they could restrict the engine size to a maximum of 1200cc and ban them from carrying passengers for a year.
New drivers are already penalised if they get six points within two years, which is very easy when you have so many sneaky mobile cameras around.
Magazines which promote bad or fast driving should also be banned.
I have two children and it would kill me if they were knocked down by someone speeding or driving like a loony, but you will never stop the few that spoil it for everyone.
