Calling all Canvey mums!
A new group is being set up to help you shift those Christmas pounds, make new friends and get a healthy dose of fresh air, all at the same time.
The group is being set up by Sarah Fryatt, mum of five-month-old Daisy.
Sarah, of Champlain Avenue, had been looking for a mother and baby group to attend for a while, but failed to find anything that fitted her needs.
That was when she struck upon the idea of a walking group, as she explains: "Like most babies, Daisy will sleep when she is out in the pram, so I've been doing lots of walking all over the island with here.
"I've seen other mums out with their children. It's good exercise and I thought at this time of year lots of people would want to lose weight, especially new mums."
As well as helping to shift the pounds and provide an ideal opportunity for a gossip, Sarah says it has other benefits.
"I find going out walking in the fresh air helps me whenever I'm suffering from lack of sleep", she says.
The first mums' walking session is on Thursday January 11 at 10.30am, with mums meeting outside the Silver Jubilee Pub on Link Road, Canvey.
