Southend rugby coach Kevin Harman was magnanimous in defeat after Saturday's setback against promotion rivals Westcombe Park.

The Seasiders still lead the National Three South table by four points from Lydney, with Westcombe Park now six points adrift of the table-toppers in third spot.

But Harman refused to be downbeat, after watching his side's nine match winning streak come to an end and offered praise to his team's Warners Bridge conquerors.

"Hands up, Westcombe Park were the better side on the day and they deserved this win," was Harman's honest assessment.

"They were sharper, keener and more desperate for the win than us.

"We are not going to dwell on this setback though. Of course this was an important game but our destiny is still in our own hands.

"We are still top of the table and need to go on another run of results now."
