A BASILDON woman is celebrating after bagging £3,000 in a charity rollover competition.
Sarah Greensides, 42, finally got lucky after three and a half years as a member of the £1 weekly Havens Hospices draw.
It has taken place since 2003 and now has over16,000 members.
Mrs Greenside, from Basildon, is now planning a trip to Hong Kong with her husband to mark their 15th wedding anniversary.
She has also kindly donated £550 back to Fair Havens, in Westcliff, and Little Havens, Thundersley, which care for people with serious illnesses.
Mrs Greenside said: “I was sat in a coffee shop when I got the call to tell me I had won the rollover prize. I just couldn’t believe it. It is fantastic news and I was so chuffed.
"I joined the draw to support a charity which I know relies on the local community for most of its funding. They care for so many local children and families and this is my way of helping out.”
It is hoped the drawwill raise £800,000 for Havens Hospices this year. It costs just £1 a week to enter, with members having the chance to grab the weekly prize of £1,000.
Carmel Hudson, manager of the draw, said “I was delighted to present Sarah with her winnings and I hope she enjoys spending the money.”
