TUBE strikes in London have affected commuters' journeys into the capital this morning as rail operators try to pick up the slack.

Both c2c and Abellio Greater Anglia and running normal services from Shoebury and Southend Victoria respectively, with trains currently running on time.

The c2c network have laid on extra trains to help ease the anticipated extra demand, with increased capacity between Laindon and Fenchurch Street.

However trains on the c2c line were not able to stop at West Ham until around 7am when the station opened, as it had previously been closed due to the industrial action.

Abellio Greater Anglia services were also affected closer to London, with some trains not stopping at their usual calling points, including Chadwell Heath, Goddmayes, Seven Kings, Gidea Park and Romford.

Greater Anglia have claimed this is to cope with expected increased passenger numbers closer to London who would not be able to board Metropolitan line Underground services.
