A POST Office will close for three days while it undergoes a major revamp.
Customers will be able to take advantage of an extra 28 hours of service a week at the branch in McColls newsagents, in Felmores End, Pitsea.
The makeover will see the Post Office modernised with a newlook, open-plan layout.
A range of services will be on offer including deliveries, banking, travel money and insurance.
Kevin Shepherd, area manager, said: “We know how important Post Office services are to residents in Pitsea and we are confident this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will be popular.
“The modernisation is part of a major Government investment programme which is enabling us to continue investing in the Post Office network and to map out a bold growth strategy through to the end of the decade.”
From Thursday, August 21, the branch will be open from 6am until 6pm Monday to Saturday, and 7am until 2pm every Sunday.
It is currently open from 9am until 5.30pm on weekdays and 9am until 1pm on Saturdays.
Refurbishment work is set to begin on Monday, August 18.
The nearest alternative branches will be Barstable Post Office, in Timberlog Lane, Basildon, and Whitmore Way Post Office, in Whitmore Way, Basildon.
McColls will remain open while work is under way.
