HEALTH officials were called after a man in his 60s died suddenly after visiting Africa, where an ebola outbreak has hit.
Public Health England officials went to Nutberry Avenue, in Grays, after neighbours said the man was seriously ill and had recently been to Nigeria.
The man died at the scene at 3.30pm on Tuesday, but a spokesman for Public Health England said ebola had been ruled out quickly.
He said: “We did attend the scene due to the man’s travel history – the fact he had been in west Africa and Nigeria.
“Ebola was considered, but after a very thorough investigation it turned out the man had not been in infected areas.
“It was ruled out as a potential cause of his death.”
Essex Police are investigating the death after being called by the ambulance service.
