A bank worker has been dubbed Southend's superman after raising more than £23,000 for charity in three years.
Can Ural, 45, of Shaftesbury Avenue, works at the Royal Bank of Scotland, in Westcliff, and has just been shortlisted for the Community Excellence Award for the company.
Now in their third year, the awards are designed to recognise the contribution that RBS employees make to local communities across the world.
Father-of-five Can, who also manages an under-11s football team, raised the money through sponsored runs, charity collections and selling homemade pizzas to his colleagues.
He said: "My daughter Ela, 12, had a tumour on her collarbone and was treated at Great Ormond Street, which is how I first got involved.
"I have raised money for different charities, but one of the main ones was for Children with Leukaemia."
