TEACHERS from Africa have been left feeling inspired after visiting a Basildon school.
Stanley Mugume,headteacher at Kijjabwemi Secondary School, in Uganda, and Emmanuel Harerimana, headteacher at G.S.
Kigame A, in Rwanda, observed lessons at Woodlands School, in Woodlands Approach, Basildon.
They explored learning, teaching, assessment and leadership methods, and had the chance to shadow pupils.
Jayne Dear, deputy headteacher, said: “They were very impressed with the lessons they observed at Woodlands, commenting that the learning and teaching is very advanced. They also praised the advanced technology and state-ofthe- art building.”
Mrs Dear is to visit Kijjabwemi Secondary School later this month, where she hopes to find ideas and inspiration for Woodlands.
The visits are part of the Connecting Classrooms project, organised by the British Council.
