Just three hours after announcing the appointment of Garry Hill as Director of Football, Grays Athletic have been forced to back-track.
Grays announced earlier today that Hill would be joining them following his recent departure from Conference rivals Weymouth, but Hill has now changed his mind.
A brief second statement from the club said: "Garry Hill has decided not to accept the position of Director of Football at this stage of the season as he feels this could jeopardise any future managerial posts that my be on offer."
On the club's website, press officer Kevin Lamb has expanded on the turnaround, saying: "He got a call from a club that were interested in him asking if he had taken up the role, he wants to get back to management.
"He could still come back to us though."
