BASILDON residents have less than one week left to register to vote in the upcoming parliamentary and local elections.
Those who are not already on the electoral register and who want to vote on Thursday, May 7, must sign up online by Monday.
Residents who cannot vote in person on polling day can register to vote by post, or by proxy, by 5pm on Tuesday, April 21 and Tuesday, April 28, respectively.
Emergency proxy vote applications are also considered in the event of medical emergencies or if a person is unexpectedly called away on business for employment related issues.
Emergency votes can be cast up until 5pm on the day of elections.
As well as the general election, local elections will take place in all council wards except Crouch and Langdon Hills on Thursday, May 7.
The parliamentary results are expected to be declared in the early hours of Friday, May 8, before the local election results are declared later that afternoon.
