MOTORISTS suffered rush-hour misery on the A127 this morning after a car caught fire.
Firefighters were called to the fire, on the London-bound carriageway at West Horndon, at 7.30am.
The car was completely alight when crews arrived and firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the blaze within 40 minutes.
The carriageway was closed at the Halfway House junction with the A128 while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Traffic queued back to the Nevendon junction before the road reopened after 8.30am.
