CONSERVATIVES held onto the Southend West seat and Sir David Amess was re-elected.
Sir David took to the microphone to say this is an "historic" night for our country.
He thanked everyone working at the polling stations & police.
The veteran MP said: "I would never take my position for granted and I am very happy to be chosen to represent Southend West again.
"The silent majority have spoken."
Sir David took the seat for the fifth time with 22,175 votes.
