SIR David Amess appears to be taking his knighthood seriously as this hilarious photograph of him dressed in a suit of armour emerged.
The Southend West MP, who was knighted in the New Years Honours list, was pictured dressed as a cavalier in woodland.
Sir David’s office has admitted the picture has been edited to include the woodland backdrop but an aide has insisted the long-serving Conservative really did don the spectacular outfit.
The horse-play was part of “feast day” celebrations at St Thomas More High School, in Westcliff, organised by the Knights of Middle England.
Sir David took part in the celebrations, which included a morning mass, falconry and a jousting re-enactment.
He said: “St Thomas More is a fantastic school with very talented students and hardworking staff.
“It was a pleasure to celebrate their feast day with them and the activities that took place on the day were a wonderful way to mark the occasion.”
