A KIND-HEARTED woman has delivered more than 100 Christmas hampers to the elderly.
Lisa Miles, 47, from Wickford made and delivered the hampers full of festive goodies to elderly people in her area.
She set up a Facebook page for the hampers and donations, after her daughter helped out with a similar project at the Bromfords School, Wickford last Christmas.
Lisa said: “My daughter Fleur took part in a Christmas hamper donations scheme with her school last year.
“The students were asked to nominated people to receive Christmas hampers with crackers, cards and tinned food.
“We nominated our neighbours and they loved the hampers. Fleur left school year and after the collection last year I thought that our neighbours wouldn’t be receiving Christmas hampers so I decided to do it myself.
“I set up my Facebook page called Hampers bring Happiness and it just went from there really.
Lisa said she posted on her Facebook page about what she wanted to do and asked people to come forward and nominate others to receive hampers.
She added: “People also came forward and donated non-perishable goods to put into hampers, things like crackers, cards and tinned vegetables and or food.
“I started collecting boxed and wrapping paper from local people and business and soon I had around 100 boxes in my front room just waiting to be filled with Christmas goodies.
“The people who donated the items either came to my house to drop donations off or I arranged to meet them somewhere.
“Unfortunately I recently injured my leg and am on crutches so I can’t deliver the hampers. I am gutted because I wanted to deliver the hampers myself.
“I am very lucky I have amazing friends and helpers so I must thank them.
“Because I was not able to deliver the hampers myself I posted on the Facebook page asking that people send in pictures of their friends and families receiving the hampers.
“I have had lots of pictures, thanks you messages and even thank you cards from people who received the Christmas hampers.
“It’s amazing!”
