A BARLING school officially opened a wildlife corner of creepy crawlies and woodland creatures thanks to the support of Tesco and parents.
Barling Magna Community Primary School, in Little Wakering Road, Rochford, has built a wildlife area in the corner of their school field.
The area includes a bug hotel, a log circle, a hedgehog house, bat boxes, bird boxes and a beetle log pile.
Headteacher, Marion Still, said: “We want our children to understand the value of a rich and varied natural environment and to be able to enjoy this as a regular part of their curriculum.
“For this reason we have developed our Wildlife Area. We have received generous donations from Tesco, Barling Magna Parish Council, Great Wakering and Barling Lodge and the Friends of Barling School.
“Pupils, staff and parents worked in all weathers to create a variety of habitats within the area for a range of wildlife. It has been good to welcome donors, volunteers, governors and other supporters to our assembly and opening ceremony today.
“Parents donated materials and we had lots of support from the community.”
