The MP for Basildon and Billericay believes the result of the EU referendum means "we have a bright future ahead of us".
John Baron has responded to the outcome of the referendum by saying "This is a great day for our country."
He said: “As someone who led the Parliamentary campaign for the referendum in the last Parliament, I believe this is a great day for our country.
"We have voted to regain our sovereignty and take back control. We have a bright future ahead of us.
“We are approaching the moment we can stop unwanted EU taxes and regulations, start negotiating trade deals with the faster-growing parts of the global economy, and begin introducing a fairer and controlled immigration system which does not discriminate against the rest of the world outside the EU.”
He also praised his team for their support and help in producing an 'excellent'; result locally.
In relation to Prime Minister David Cameron's resignation he added: “The Prime Minister was right to announce his resignation and plans for an orderly handover.
"I hope a colleague who supported Brexit will now become Prime Minister.
"A constructive negotiation should ensure we respect the wishes of the electorate, and both exit the EU whilst remaining on good terms with Europe.”
