A NEW family firm has taken over a butcher’s shop and plans to be a cut above the rest — with a little help from the Gods.
Artemis Foods, in Whitmore Way, Basildon, will be offering high quality meats sourced from Smithfields in London, as well as selling raw pet food and making home deliveries.
The firm is fronted by experienced butcher Douglas McGlynn, 57, in partnership with sons John, 35, and Mark, 33. Douglas has been in the industry for 40 years, but this is his first shop.
The company is named after Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt.
Mark said: “We think that people are coming back to the local stores and we have been getting very positive feedback so far.”
