SOUTHEND Library has hosted its first ever board game event.

The event at the Forum library, attracted young and old board game enthusiasts.

Library manager Joe Passingham said: "It went really well with up to 30 people playing at one point. There was all ages there from families with young children to older people on their own looking for people to play games with.

"I'm really pleased with the way it all went. We only had one table empty and it was only the first event."

The event will be held fortnightly, with the first four free of charge and 50p henceforth.

A wide selection of board games will be available to play but participants can bring their own. All ages are welcome but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
