A STUDENT is celebrating after she won a prestigious award.
Nathalie Clarkson, 22, from Southend, studies BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion at Ravensbourne College in London and has been awarded the Boohoo Social Media Award at Graduate Fashion Week.
She was presented with the prize for her social media campaign around the development of her ethical multi-brand website called “Sourced”.
Her campaign surrounded Earth Day and encouraged young people to post their own activist Instagram posts using the hashtag #Climatechangeisreal.
Nathalie said: “I often look towards youth culture to inspire my ideas, drawing on what is current and cool with today’s young people.
“The course at Ravensbourne has really helped me to develop my skills with different digital softwares. It has also given me the opportunity to understand and learn about consumer insights and market trends, in order to make my ideas current and relevant to the industry, as well as visually pleasing.”
Associate Dean for the Department of Fashion, Caroline Gilbey said: “We’re delighted with Nathalie’s win. She’s worked extremely hard, it’s very well deserved.”
Nathalie would like to explore graphics, particularly branding, or working within the fashion e-commerce industry in the future.
Nathalie’s win follows seven students from the course being shortlisted for the reputable All Walks Beyond the Catwalk competition which asks fashion students to present their vision of a future where diverse representation is the norm. Out of these seven, four students have been named as finalists which means Ravensbourne holds the most finalists and shortlisted students of any institution this year!
Additionally, students studying in the Department of Fashion have also been nominated for six Graduate Fashion Week Awards in categories such as styling and fashion marketing.
