PINTS is a monthly comedy night, held by comedian pals Pope Lonergan and Michael Wheeler.
"It's a nice mix of puerility and professionalism. We've had professional comics (with TV credits)" says Pope, rattling off a list of names in the comedy world who I ought to know.
Pope Lonergan was recently under the spotlight, getting national newspaper coverage for his work in co-creating the comedy project The Care Home Tour, where he and fellow comedians went on a tour around care homes, the idea being to bring alternative, visual comedy to this unusual demographic which included people with dementia. As a part-time standup and full-time carer, felt more needed to be done to enhance residents' days.
But back to Pint; the next night is on Thursday February 15, with Tony Law, Ian Smith, Ross McGrane and Ali Woods on the bill.
Entry is £3 and it takes place upstairs at the Railway Hotel, Clifftown Road, Southend.
Start time is 7:30pm.
