SOUTHEND United’s clash at Oldham Athletic has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.
The decision was taken by referee David Webb just before 12 noon.
And Webb insisted there was no way the game could have gone ahead.
"There was an area of the pitch which was frozen and it wouldn't have been safe to play on," said Webb.
"It's very frustrating but the club did all they could.
"They had the covers on and were also pouring boiling water on the frozen areas to try and get the game on but unfortunately it wasn't possible."
Blues were also hit by a late postponement at the end of January when their game at Rochdale was also called off just a few hours before kick off.
