A HISTORIC pub is soon to re-open under new ownership following a £200,000 transformation.

The Old King’s Head, on the B1007 road between Stock and Billericay, is set to open its doors at the end of April.

The pub’s new general manager, Kiri Coker, said: “The refurbishment has been a massive challenge. The pub apparently dates back some 400 years but has been shut for some time and a lot of work was needed just to make it habitable.

“We have gone a lot further than that and have started from scratch on the interior to make it as comfortable and welcoming as any pub in the county.

“This is an exciting venture and we are delighted to bring such an old pub back to life. We look forward to welcoming customers.”
