FRIENDS will walk 200 miles through Eastern Europe to raise money to help children with life limiting illnesses.

The pair will walk from Prague to Berlin to raise money for Little Havens Hospice.

Family friends turned “vloggers”, Mark Cundy, 52, from Westcliff, and Lucas Coyer, 21, from Shoebury, have their own YouTube channel called “Mark & Lucas”, in which they video blog about various fun and quirky activities and challenges they take part in, from visiting secret bunkers to being chased out of Tilbury Fort.

The pair - who will be vlogging the walk - will fly out to Prague on September 22 before beginning their journey on September 24.

Starting at Wenceslas, Prague, Mark and Lucas will walk their way through to the Bradenburg Gate, Berlin, over the course of nine days.

Mark and Lucas have been training hard for the event and regularly walk over 25 miles to get in tip-top shape for the big day. They hope to raise £500 for Little Havens.

Mark said: “We have our walking trainers and Vaseline (for the chaffing) at the ready and are both very excited.

“We can’t wait for when we fly out, it is going to be hard work but it’s also going to be a blast.

“Little Havens charity do some amazing work and we couldn’t think of a better local charity to raise money for.”

After the trek is over, Mark and Lucas will meet with representatives of Little Havens and Sir David Amess MP on Southend Pier for a homecoming walk on Sunday, October 7.

Mark is already an experienced walker having already taken part in walks from Melbourne to Sydney, London to New York, and his biggest to date – London to Moscow.

Mark has also written three successful books, with the latest one entitled A Man and a Pram, which documents his gruelling ten month trek from London to New York. He said you must read the book to find out what the “pram” in the title refers to.
