A MAN’S body has been found in a fishing lake.
Emergency services descended on a fishing lake, near Church Road, Corringham, at about 7.35am yesterday morning.
A large cordon remained in place following the discovery of the body throughout the day.
The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called at around 7.35am on Wednesday, May 15, following the discovery of a man’s body in a fishing lake in Church Road, Corringham.
“We have attended the scene and a cordon remains in place.
“The man’s death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and our enquiries are ongoing.”
Police and paramedics were spotted by witnesses at Cobblers Mede Lake, near to The Bull pub, in Herd Lane, Corringham.
The lake is a private area, where members of a particular fishing community can only access with a card.
It is also believed to be fenced off where public access is not easily gained.
One resident stated that the body had been discovered by a fisherman in the early hours of the morning.
They said: “A family friend was fishing on Wednesday morning, he hooked a fish, and whilst bringing it to the bank a dead body of a male surfaced.”
