AN air ambulance has landed in Billericay after a serious crash this afternoon.
The crash was reported to have taken place near the high street, at around 1pm, at a pedestrian crossing on Alma Link, according to Essex Police.
The air ambulance was seen landing at Queen Elizabeth II Park.
Residents reported that traffic on the high street has been building for some time.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are currently on scene at Alma Link, Billericay following a road collision.
"We are asking motorists to avoid the area and surrounding road where possible. There are closures in place in adjoining roads including Chapel Street and the High street."
Police have yet to confirm the number of vehicles or the nature of injuries suffered by those involved in the crash.
The ambulance services is currently at the scene, and has been contacted for a comment.
