FORMER England international Sol Campbell has been interviewed for the vacant managerial role at Southend United.
Henrik Larsson, Gary Waddock and Adam Barrett remain contenders for the position.
And Blues chairman Ron Martin has now confirmed Campbell is now also in the race to replace Kevin Bond.
"Sol is a passionate, eloquent individual," said Martin.
"One can perhaps understand why Sol succeeded against the odds at Macclesfield."
Campbell helped Macclesfield Town avoid relegation from League Two last season, after taking over in November when the Silkmen were five points from safety.
The ex defender left the club in August but it is believed he would again include former Manchester United striker Andy Cole and ex Ipswich Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson in his backroom team if he came to Blues.
